Sanctity of Life: Superheroes
As we continue through Sanctity of Life Month, I was wondering:
Have you ever wanted
to be a superhero?
If I were a
superhero, I would be a combination of Wonder Women with her Lasso of Truth and
Iron Man’s ‘Power palm’.
It would be easier to just zap people with God’s Being and
Truth. No waiting for results. Clean up all the messiness of being human.
Clean up bullies. Human Trafficking. Abuse. Assault. Broken
homes. Addiction…
Zap. Zapptiy-zap.
The ‘bad guy’ suddenly realizes they are wrong and repents. The
bully is nicer. Families are made whole.
Women and children saved from the darkness of life. They
would automatically know how much they are loved and valued by their Creator
God. They could make choices from a healthier place.
There are times during prayerful worship that I feel God’s
Presence so strongly that I expect to see His Power shooting from my palm into
the room or the one I might be praying for. Oh how I wish!
But God doesn’t call us to zap into and run out of people’s
lives. He calls us to bear one another’s burdens. To walk together. Be available.
Encourage. (Galatians 6:2; Ecc. 4:9-12; 1 Peter 4:10)
Life is worth
protecting.
Unintended Pregnancies happen for many reasons. Our culture
today is quick to get rid of anything we are not desiring, that doesn’t fit
into our happy life goals. Update our décor, our wardrobe... Ditch that spouse.
Choose our life over another’s. We will be the Master of our own destiny!
We now have 4D ultrasounds and a plethora of studies that
show when life begins and how miraculous God’s design is.
In Luke 1, we read about how John leaped while still in the
womb at the presence of Mary and Jesus, before either of them were born. What a
moment of praise!
So, how do we protect life when it suddenly appears?
Prevention.
We could prevent the rate that life may be conceived.
There’s a huge push to provide birth control. Some work
really well. All give a false sense of protection. It could be 98% effective
but you have no idea if this time will be within the 2% ‘oops’ factor.
(96% of all abortions are birth control backup. Rape and
Incest still only make up 1% of all abortions.)
How about self-control, self-worth? What about empowering
motherhood, fathers and families? That playing house is for when you own your
‘house’? How about encouraging friendship and becoming young adults of
integrity?
Prevention needs to be before the recreation stage.
What if we honored family? How about self-control,
self-worth? What about the empowering motherhood, fathers and families? That
playing house is for when you own your ‘house’?
We might be able to lower the abortion numbers when kids
have a clear understanding of child development in the womb and raising a child
is promoted over abortion. When the sacredness of the relationship that creates
the child is held in high esteem. When it’s a time to prepare and hold out for.
When it’s understood, as a culture, that once a child is conceived the question
is how to prepare to raise the child or how to deliver a healthy baby and find
a loving home.
Then we might see lower numbers.
No, that won’t take all the unintended pregnancies away. Bad
things happen to innocent people. As long as our children are told they are
sexual beings with the control of a wild animal, recreational sex will continue
with its consequences. And all the other ugly facets that happen with it
(sexism, abuse, assault, human trafficking...).
Youth and young adults need to know that every sexual
encounter is a 50/50 shot of being a parent. Be ready beforehand.
Pregnancy Centers.
This is why we need pregnancy centers to be in every
community. Majority of these centers are lighthouses for when someone is facing
a life decision. All of them provide resources FOR FREE so families will be
able to carry and parent said child. They have information if the parent(s)
chooses to place their child for adoption. They do all this and so much more.
We need churches to embrace those facing unintended
pregnancies. Churches and families that share grace with those facing these
moments. That empower families, parenting, growing through the hard times.
And we have these churches, these families.
Many women who filled out abortion surveys over the years
continue to state that if they had known of this help and if they had heard the
heartbeat/seen an ultrasound, they would have made a different choice.
In the moment of decision, knowing they had help and seeing
an ultrasound would have changed their mind. That would change the
abortion numbers.
Pregnancy Centers in the United States of America started in
the late 60s in response to changes in state laws after Roe v Wade. The first
network of centers began in Canada at the same time. Some are still active
today; such as, Care-Net Org. and Heartbeat Int’l.
In 2022, an organization called Jane’s Revenge began
terrorizing pregnancy centers with vandalism and death threats. Some
representatives in our government have actually helped them through legislation
and providing lists with maps to create their targets.
The Satanic Temple (TST) was founded in 2013 in Salem, MA.
It opened a free abortion clinic in NM, 2023, stating abortion was a part of
their religion (Link below). NO ONE batted an eye. It has been very open about
where they stand and what they do.
The Abortion Pill is surpassing surgical abortions and
driving the numbers back up.
There is so much evil coming against life…
“There are six
things that the Lord hates,
seven that are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart
that devises wicked plans, feet that make
haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows
discord among brothers.” Proverbs 6:16-19.
Be a Superhero.
In the fight of Sanctity of Life, Pregnancy Centers are
superheroes. They walk with their clients through the storm.
Organizations like Liveaction, Care-Net and Heartbeat Int’l
are on the front lines every day as the evil wave of abortion grows into a
tsunami. They work at educating our society to the truth.
You can be one, too. We are all superheroes whenever we come
together and help another. We are God’s children and He expects us to fight
for, support and care about His own.
When we care for the least of those around us, we are a
superhero. (Matthew 25:40)
“Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave
it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance
is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” “Romans 12:19
What do we do if we can’t zap ‘em?
Those that promote recreational sex
and abortion as birth control? Those that assault others? The Enemy that uses
others to push his agenda against life, innocence and families?
Put on the full armor of God
(Ephesians 6). In Ephesians, we find a sword but also that we are to “pray in the Spirit on all occasions” (vs
18) and remember:
“For though we live in this world, we do not
wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of
the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We
demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the
knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to
Christ. And we will be ready to punish every act of disobedience, once your
obedience is complete.” 2 Cor. 10: 3-6.
Please pray for those on the frontlines.
Pray for those in our communities bridging the gap and
fighting for life-for the child and the mother/families.
Pray that as families, as a country, as a people of the
Living God, we provide for and protect those we have yet to hold AND those
facing that decision.
Blessings,
Diane J
