Why Do We Have to Talk About the Ugly Stuff?

Sanctity of Life: Secrets, Grief and Healing Why do we have to talk about this again ? Why can't we just let people do what they want with their own bodies? Why do we have to talk about child development and abortion facts? They might be done having kids so they don’t ‘need it’. Their kids aren’t old enough to know about how they came to be and how marvelous God's design is. I've been told these things and more but we need the information to have the conversations.  We need to be having the conversations because the church has been silent. The church being silent has brought us to debating:     w hen does life begin, if the preborn child has any value, is life really sacred (sacred is a lost concept), millions of women (and men) are haunted by a decision made from the dece...

Sanctity of Life: Superheroes

As we continue through Sanctity of Life Month, I was wondering: Have you ever wanted to be a superhero?   If I were a superhero, I would be a combination of Wonder Women with her Lasso of Truth and Iron Man’s ‘Power palm’. It would be easier to just zap people with God’s Being and Truth. No waiting for results. Clean up all the messiness of being human. Clean up bullies. Human Trafficking. Abuse. Assault. Broken homes. Addiction… Zap. Zapptiy-zap. The ‘bad guy’ suddenly realizes they are wrong and repents. The bully is nicer. Families are made whole. Women and children saved from the darkness of life. They would automatically know how much they are loved and valued by their Creator God. They could make choices from a healthier place. There are times during prayerful worship that I feel God’s Presence so strongly that I expect to see His Power shooting from my palm into the room or the one I might be praying for. Oh how I wish! But God doesn’t call us to zap ...

January: Sanctity of Life Month

January is National Sanctity of Life Month . A month set aside by President Ronald Reagan in 1984 so, as a nation, we can remember the value of life. From conception to death, every human being has value, purpose and potential to bring light into the world. You have value because you were made in the image of God. You had value from the first spark of your cells. You have hope of the ministry of reconciliation with your Creator God until your last breath. Whether a person is in the womb, may have an abnormality, or may be older and in need of constant care; their life has value. Life is sacred. We do not have the right to select who gets to continue the life God has already given them just because we find them undesirable. We are called to be a voice for the voiceless. That is, if you claim Jesus as your Lord and Savior, the decision is already made. Jesus is LIFE. He is not about death. As a believer, you are an ambassador of Christ (Matt. 22) and called to be a light amid...

A Very Insightful Book

I just read a book that helped me understand the confusion I have had for a while as I give it my best in life, and wonder why it isn't enough. Allie Beth Stuckey's "You're Not Enough (and that's okay): escaping the toxic culture of self-love" was what I needed to hear as a new year started.  She begins by having us ponder what if we are loving ourselves too much? We tend to hyper focus on ourselves but when we surrender to Jesus, we tend to forget that we are no longer our own. Ms Stuckey reminds us that the 'self can't be the problem AND the solution'. There are 5 Myths that she wants us to examine:  * You are enough. *You determine your truth. *You're prefect the way you are. *You're entitled to your dreams. *You can't love others until you love yourself. She breaks each one down completely, showing us all the different angles of thoughts and how a little truth is blended in to have us accept these concepts. If we are followers of C...

Sealed With the Stamp of the King

"And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God's possession-to the praise of his glory." Ephesians 1:13-14 Recently, I was talking with a friend. My heart became burdened as she doesn't know who she is. Life's rocky path has confined her to a small cave of fear where she peeps her head every once in awhile. The Enemy has told her she is safe there. She has been there so long it is familiar. As we talked, my spirit reminded me that we all have that 'cave'. There are times when I need a reminder of who I am, too. So, I asked her some questions. "Do you believe in God?" (Yes.) "Do you believe that Jesus is the Son of God?" (Yes.) "Do you believe that He died for your sins, paid a debt you owed but couldn't p...

Sometimes Life IS Hard

"When I was a child, I acted like a child..." this verse goes on to say that when we are mature, we put away childish ways. Can I be completely honest? Sometimes, I want to be a child. I want to scream, yell, cry, run with abandon. I want to hide in my blanket fort with my Snugglies and read a book or take a nap. Yet, I am an adult; so I will smile politely even if I disagree, sit still so not to offend those around me, hold it in so I won't 'make a scene', be respectable as deemed appropriate from the generations that have gone before me. There was a time when I didn't care who heard me sing at the top of my lungs or saw me dance however the music moved me. The times I actually wanted to be heard. Forced people to hear me. That was before. Before the 'rips', the tears, the 'earthquakes' of life. When I was young, and had all the answers. All the bravado of youth. Face to face with myself, in the presence of God, as I entered adulthood, ...
